I meant to transfer funds from my 401k to a new employer, but accidentally took a distribution instead. Old 401k says they can’t undo this. Any ways to put all of the money back in a 401k or at least a different retirement account? Please help!
From my panic induced googling what i found so far is that i have 60 days to my funds into a new retirement account. But what about the federal taxes? Google tells me i need to cover that portion from personal funds and that these will be returned to me with my next tax return. I don’t have near enough laying around to add that to a new account while i wait around for a year. Does a 1 year interest free loan for ~$40k exist??
